The challenge

JRI Orthopaedics, based in Sheffield, is world-class in its field. Family run, JRI had a family culture but a command

and control management style. As a technical business many leaders were promoted due to their level expertise. In order to leap to the next phase of their own organisational success JRI needed to create inspirational leaders, enabling them to manage change & innovation.

JRI needed a tailored management and leadership development programme to build an empowered team.

The solution

Why Roffey Park? From the outset Roffey Park clearly understood JRI’s objectives. It designed a customised training programme to build a culture around effective leadership and innovation, helping create consistent, cohesive and collaborative leadership along with developing self-aware, proactive and agile leaders. The final programme broke down into three modules:

  • Leading Myself.
  • Leading Others.
  • Leading Teams.

Follow-up elements included:

  • Creativity Masterclass.
  • Post Programme Review.
  • Action Learning Sets.

Post-Programme Learning: JRI created Quarterly Management Forum and a “Roffey Park Legacy Team” to share learnings across the business.

The Result: Evidence of success. Since completing the development programme JRI have gone on to win numerous awards for trade and performance including:

  • International Trade Award 2015 – in recognition of JRI’s approach to increasing international trade.
  • North of England Excellence – Overall Award 2015 – for demonstrating excellence in performance improvement.
