Workshop demonstrates the importance of the manager-coach

31/10/2007

A practical workshop showing first-hand the role that managers have to play in increasing personal effectiveness and performance in organisations, will be held at Roffey Park on Friday 16 November.  Entitled The Manager as Coach, this new workshop will combine case studies with practical sessions to highlight challenges facing the manager-coach and demonstrate ways of successfully tackling this crucial role.

The Manager as Coach is aimed at managers who have little or no experience in coaching, as well as internal coaches and HR practitioners needing to develop the coaching capability of their organisation’s managers.  Highlights of the workshop will include an insightful case study from the Legal Services Commission, and a practical session exploring different coaching styles and solutions for day-to-day management dilemmas.

Sabine Stritch, Programme Director for Roffey Park’s Performance Coaching programme, said:  “Organisations have become aware of the need to train their managers in coaching skills as the most effective means for developing others.  Research from the CIPD shows that 88% of organisations now use coaching by line managers and this workshop will outline the challenges of this role as well as providing invaluable tools and strategies to make this a success.”
