 Human Resources

Roffey Park has been a home for HR Professionals for many years and we have a history and culture here of helping HR Professionals to be effective in their role within their organisations.  The Transition to HR Business Partnering in many enterprises has given HR functional experts the opportunity to broaden their horizons and genuinely add value to the business. But we believe that although this has been a positive move forward in principle, in reality many in HR are struggling to break away from the shackles of the more transactional part of their role and there is a need for progressive approaches to empower Line Managers to take more accountability for their people’s development in order to allow HR to fulfil the high-impact role they crave for in their businesses.

Truly enlightened HR Professionals will need to take a step further to revitalise their organisations and ensure they are staffed with the pool of talent that will sustain their viability for the future and grow their strength in the market-place. That means in today’s complex and challenging environment being a visionary not just for HR but the organisation first and foremost. It also means being grounded in the language of the organisation and avoiding HR jargon.

Our challenge to HR Professionals with the interventions that we facilitate for them is also to put the “Human “ back into Human Resources. The danger is as HR strives continually to add value that it loses sight of how to engage effectively with all the workforce to create the motivational and innovative climate that will shape the organisation’s future. At Roffey Park we place equal value on our work with HR Business Partners and  building Employee Engagement which we believe will continue to be a major focus for the foreseeable future.  We will also continue to challenge HR players to be looking to “raise the bar” in order to maximise their organisational impact.
